BAMS Course Overview

The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) program is a professional medical degree focusing on traditional Ayurvedic medicine coupled with essential components of modern clinical medicine.

Graduates are awarded the title of **Ayurvedacharya (BAMS)** and are registered practitioners recognized by central and state medical registration councils. The course is divided into 3 professional terms of 18 months each, culminating in 12 months of rotating hospital internship.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must fulfill all guidelines issued by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) & State CET Cell:

  • NEET qualification: Candidates must qualify for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) of the current admission year.
  • Academic Marks (HSC/12th): Passed HSC Science (or equivalent exam) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB).
    • Open Category: 50% minimum group marks in PCB.
    • Reserved Category (SC/ST/OBC): 40% minimum group marks in PCB.
  • Age Criteria: Completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year.
Admission Registration Note

Seats are filled purely on merit via online counseling conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra. Candidates must fill institutional preferences in CAP rounds selection lists.

BAMS Fee Structure (Per Annum)

Interim fee structure approved by the Fees Regulating Authority (FRA), Maharashtra. Final adjustments subject to yearly revisions.

Discipline & Rules

MUHS guidelines state that a student must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in theory lectures and 80% attendance in practical clinics to qualify for examinations.

The college has a zero-tolerance policy against ragging. Guilty students will be subject to immediate rustication and criminal charges under the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act.
